Good morning from Decker’s Corner. Chef Chris here with your morning “Conditions Report” We’ve got sunny blue skies and warm temperatures, already at 56 degrees.  At 6:30, the river flow at Trumble was 514 (cfs) and clearing up nicely as we have not seen any rain in the last 24 hours.  Midges were coming off this morning again with a few fish sipping up by the “Turn Hole.” I’ve been hearing that the San Juan Worm trailing a pheasant tail has been working for some. Stop in to see the guys at Flies-n-lieshttp://www.flies-n-lies.com to pick up some bugs and come on up and see us. Going to a busy weekend here at the Decker’s Corner Caféhttp://www.deckerscorner.com. So,  bring Dad up for the only Soft-Serve Ice Cream in the Valley!!. Cabins in our area are available and reservations can me made directly from livedeckerscolorado.com or visit http://www.southplatterivercabins.com.

Good Morning from the beautiful foothills of the Colorado Mountains!! Chef Chris here in Decker’s with your morning weather and river conditions in Decker’s, Colorado.  It’s a magnificent morning up here in Decker’s today, with sunny blue skies and a pleasant forecast. Right now, It’s 45 degrees  and will be getting into the mid-70’s into the afternoon.  The midges were coming off thick this morning, ranging in size from about  #18-#20.   The river by the bridge and up towards the “turn hole” is a little cloudy after last nights rains, but noticeably more clear as you go up towards the “wire”  Water flow is at 546 (cfs) at the Trumble Bridge Station. Horse Creek is pumping pretty good into the Platte at Decker’s bridge this morning, after the rain run-off, and it’s causing some cloudiness below the bridge.  I didn’t spot one angler this morning from the bridge to the hill, so theirs plenty of room to toss a fly!  Come on up and take advantage of the sunshine and great weather!  And  while you enjoy your day on the South Platte , let us here at the Decker’s Corner Café take care of lunch and a refreshing beverage. Remember!! Do something good today, take a kid fishing!!!

Have a great day!!

Chef Chris

Good morning to you from Decker’s!! It’s a beautiful late spring morning up here in the foothills.  Low humidity, perfect temperatures at 64 degrees.  Looks like it’s only going to be about 70 today. The river is up a little higher, coming out of the Dam at 500(cfs) , so it’s probably about 460-480 around Decker’s bridge.  The weekend crowds are gone and I saw a few fish taken on my walk this morning. Spoke with a regular Angler I see on the river daily and he tells me he’s been “Going Deep” all weekend with a “Pat’s Rubber Legs” trailing a Chocolate Thunder” Going out myself this afternoon/evening, so I’ll let you know what’s working for me. As I take my morning walk around Decker’s each day, I always have an interesting conversation or two with other anglers, photographers, hikers, campers, and well, you get it!! Yesterday I spoke with a Parks and Wildlife Officer and he asked me to pass along this, “Please stop picking up the baby deer, they are fine” I will try to pass along information like this at the request of different forest services agencies, to help inform residents and tourists of the South Platte River Valley of the hazards and consequences of interfering with wildlife in it’s natural habitat. Have a great day, and take a kid fishing!![Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”12″ gal_title=”june 13th blog pics”]

Good evening from Decker’s, Colorado!! Sorry I couldn’t get the river report out this morning, had a website issue, as I am new to web designing!! The river is at 406(cfs) as of this afternoon, checked with Flies-n-lies earlier this morning when I was out. It’s that time of year in the Valley where the Wildflowers are blooming on the rock walls and by the riverside. I’m hoping to get a few posted tomorrow. I didn’t see as many midges coming off like yesterday, but it was considerably cooler earlier this morning then it was yesterday at the same time. As I’m out on my walk each day, I don’t necessarily go out with the intentions of what I’m going to blog about, I just simply walk among the river and let mother nature and the wildlife direct me to what “it” has is store for me to share with you each day. The beautiful part of my life here in Decker’s, as the only full-time resident, is the ability to walk out the front door and know that all of this beauty means nothing if you don’t take time to take it all in. And as a very special person in my life these days likes to say, “Stop and Smell the Roses”[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”11″ gal_title=”spring flowers”]

Have a Great Evening!

Good Morning from Chef Chris, here in Decker’s, Colorado. Beautiful morning on the South Platte River. I took a walk along the YMCA road this morning, as I will be doing each day, mostly early mornings so I can report to you the accurate weather and river conditions as I see them right out my front door!  The guys at Flies http://www.flies-n-lies.com let me know the river was at about 410cfs, and you can see the forecast above for our area.  It’s warming up quickly, but still a little cooler before the sun makes it up over Decker’s.  The water looks pretty clear up here to me for the 410cfs, but just a little cloudier downstream.  I photographed a few successful fisherman this morning. Saw some early morning Midge hatches and fish were sipping on the surface along the edges of the river, from the bridge in Decker’s,  to the hill by Lone Rock Campground. Be sure to stop in to the Decker’s Corner Café http://www.deckerscorner.com to cool off with a refreshing cold drink, ice cream, shake or try our new Frozen espresso shake with real espresso!!!
