August 30, 2016 Fishing report
Good evening my fishing friends!
Well, today was the first day in about the last 5 or 6 that we haven’t had the afternoon thunderstorms. The morning temperatures in the valley are beginning to drop as we head into September and the fishing has been really fantastic! The measured flow on the South Platte today in Trumbull was a little higher than yesterday at 327 cfs. Below Cheesman we have 281 cfs, with it looking like 315 in Decker’s. No fishing for me today, but I did observe a nice rise occurring this morning downstream at Bridge Crossing, as I cycled from Trumbull to Nighthawk and back. Each morning, as I make this 20 mile ride during the morning hatch, I try to make note of the bugs that are stuck to my cycling jersey when I return. Seems to be a pretty good way to find out what’s happening on particular stretches of river. If you are looking to book a guided fly-fishing trip, a cabin for an extended stay or just for one night, be sure to check out Flies and Lies http://www.flies-n-lies.com
Have a great evening and I hope to see you on the river!
Chris
