Camping In and Around Deckers, Colorado
There are many adventures to be had here in Deckers, Colorado! We have put together a list of the most popular campgrounds in our area and the maps to get you there! Simply click on the link of your choice and start exploring the South Platte River Valley, Colorado!
The Pike San Isabel National Forest and Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands (PSICC) are comprised of 2 national forests and 2 national grasslands throughout Colorado, Kansas. The PSICC covers nearly 3 million acres, between the prairies of western Kansas and some of Colorado’s highest mountain peaks along the Continental Divide. These sprawling forests and grasslands are an eight hour drive from boundary to boundary. This landscape offers a variety of ecosystems rich in history, geology, scenery, wildlife habitat and recreation opportunities.
ExplorUS Operates all of the developed campgrounds in the Pike and San Isabel Forests. This forest draws crowds of all types, from fisherman to horseback riders, from family reunion groups to small backpacking duos, from atv riders to downhill mountain bikers, it is a diverse and large forest where almost any recreational activity can be had.
Rules, Regulations, & Things to Know
No overnight camping in day-use areas. Closing times are posted for each area
- Pack out all garbage, this includes pet waste
- No trailers are permitted in day-use areas. (No pop-up campers or Rv’s)
- Keep all pets on a leash
- Do not leave food behind
- Bring cash/check for day-use areas, as they are self-pay stations. Cards not accepted
- Every vehicle is required to have its own pay-stub filled and displayed on dash board
- If already camping, you may display your orange, white, or purple Park Pass.
- No use of motorized vehicles is permitted at the day-use areas
- There is a day use fee of $10. Fees are payable by check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available. The Interagency Senior Pass and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount with proper ID.
Lone Rock Campground
This campground is a very popular campground and is typically crowded during peak season on the weekends. Lone Rock Campground also takes reservations through http://www.reserveamerica.com. It’s close proximity to the Decker’s Resort Building and good fishing, makes this campground a popular destination.
Osprey Campground
This campground is located approximately 10 miles north of Deckers and is open year round. This campground is also a popular campground for Angler’s. Good riffle-runs and pocket water make this a great fishing destination.
Ouzel Campground
This campground is located approximately 7 miles north of Deckers and is open year round.
Platte River Campground
This campground is located approximately 4 miles north of Deckers and is open year round.
Indian Creek Equestrian Campground
Indian Creek Equestrian Campground has 7 campsites with parking spurs 50-60′ to accommodate horse trailer. Only 10 people and 4 horses max per campsite. Please use certified weed-free hay only.
Indian Creek Campground
To reach this area, take U.S. Highway 85 south to Sedalia, then take Highway 67. The Indian Creek complex is located less than a mile west of the Rampart Range Road Junction on Highway 67.
Flat Rocks Campground
Hidden in the Rampart Range, Flat Rocks is a campground ideal for the ATV and motorcycle riders in the Rampart Range Motorized Trail System. ATVs and off-road motorcycles are allowed within the campground with immediate connecting trail access.
Bridge Crossing Day-Use
This is a nice picnic area along the South Platte River and off of Jefferson County Road 67. There is no host on-site. The host is at Lone Rock Campground about 3.5 miles south from picnic area.
No campfires at the site; pedestal grills are available.
Sraggy View Day-Use
On the South Platte River at an elevation of 6,296 feet, Scraggy View Picnic Area is approximately 1 1/2 hours drive southwest of Denver on Jefferson County Route 126. There are five (5) picnic sites.

Willow Bend Day-Use
Located on the South Platte River Corridor at an elevation of 6,220 feet, Willow Bend Picnic Area is approximately 1.5 hours drive southwest of Denver on Jefferson County Road 126. There are five (5) picnic sites. There is no host on-site. Host is at Lone Rock Campground which is about 3.5 miles south from picnic area.
